Putting my brain in detox!Putting my brain in detox!
pixiechic said: "sounds like a lot of fun. :)
when are you gonna tune back in?"
featherish said: "Tuning out of the television changes the way you think, in my humble opinion.
It always amazes me how the television suddenly blares a commercial 15 decibels higher than whatever TV show is playing.
It almost screams at you to eat this, consume that, buy, buy, buy!
It can be very distracting sometimes."

Henrietta said: "Well done! You won't even know who the American Idol is!"
Heather said: "I decided to detoxify my brain of television for a while.
My hubby and I turned it off at about 7:30 on Monday night, and haven't turned it back on since.
We don't have any kids, so it isn't any big thing.
The reason we did this is to see how different life would be without "16 channels of sh*t on my TV to choose from"
Already I have noticed that time operates a lot differently. It doesn't go by as fast.
My appetite hasn't seemed out of control either. Maybe by missing marketing messages your brain operates differently?"
Heather said: "Well, it's 8 am on Sunday and the TV is still off.
I'm thinking that this has had a really good effect. Not listening to mindless marketing messages has helped me clear my mind a little. I have felt more creative and energetic.
I was reading today that kids spend an average of 6 1/2 a day in front of electronic devices (TV, computers, video games etc.) That is nearly 30% of every day!
It seems like a lot of time in a day."

I no longer sit impatiently waiting for shows to come on or curse because they've been interrupted by 'breaking news'...or moved to another day or time or cancelled. Sometimes the TV will be on with my kids or husband watching and I will watch little snippets of things...but it typically just bores me. I'd rather be doing something other than sitting on my butt! You'd probably be surprised at all the multi-tasking I do when I'm online. I'm rarely sitting for over 10 minutes at a time. :D"
