calorie, body fat calculators

spectrachic311 said: "Pretty cool, but the body fat percentage one is WAY off. It was off by like, 12% for me, so I woudn't recommend it if you are athletic. It doesn't take measurements into consideration at all."

Scarlett said: "Thanks for the link! Now I have something to do while I'm at work ;) I'll definately be bookmarking it when I get to my home computer!"

docbrown said: "Thank you missred, This is awesome!! mine is 3,855 to maintain and 1,835 is for the basic energy use, Thank you!!"

docbrown said: "Is this the only Body calculator that is most accurate? where it tells how many Calories you need and how many to gain a pound by your body weight and height?"

kittykat79 said: "With all my info, it says i need to consume 1560 calories a day to lose weight. I've been sticking to around 1500 and doing great! I never thought just counting calories alone was so easy and it actually works."

missred said: "I decided to do a little investigating, and I have found that, in order to lose weight, I need to comsume arounf 1900 calories! It sounds like so much! Anyway, I found a great site that has a number of calculators for body fat, caloric needs, ect. Plus it has some great articles on weight loss, foods, fast food tips and so much more. It is really just a great site. Anyway, it is www.ahealthyme.com and you click on the link for weight loss. Easy! I think it also has a calorie counter, food diary and so on too. :) The weight loss link is under self-care centers on our right side of the page!"

missred said: "I calculate my body fat with another calculator, and this one was like 3% off for me because it doesn't take measurements into consideration. The calculations on caloric needs matched several others that I have tried though. ANd the articles are pretty good too."

SoyNut said: "At least for a quick calculation (none of the online calculators are %100), I use this site: http://www.topendsports.com/testing/hfcalculator.htm It's the most accurate I've yet found. The one on healthyme was extremely off for mine. You can't tell BFP by just height and weight, it can only tell you teh average BFP for those stats. Height and weight can only tell body mass. I'm having mine officially tested at the YMCA this weekend. Little nervous, but I need to do it."

pound by pound said: "Whoever said that about body measurements was dead on! I have a weird shaped body which somehow has always been fat! I used to be at 173 and then decided it was time to do somehting. I'm at 157 now and all the body indicators and other gadgets and gizmos (even the ones my doctor uses) all say that this weight is okay but there's still lots of fat there, I can see it when I look down when I sit or even a bit when I'm standing. The point is- YOU, not your family, not your doctor, adn DEFINITELY not some dumb website- know when it's time to lose weight and how much to lose!!!"
