How I think about food....How I think about food....

I never used to care about or think about vitamins, nutrients, calories, fats, or anything else in my food (except the flavor, of course). Now I find myself choosing veggies based on their vitamin content, meats based on their fat content, etc. I definitely feel better when I put primo fuel into my "tank". I get better mileage, too...feel fuller longer when I eat the right stuff."

When I go to Subway, I take everything (and the hot peppers and banana peppers) because I know there's all kinds of good stuff in those vegetables. I agree with spectra, that you feel better when you aren't eating junk."

Eh, it's all gravy though :)
I do try to think that way though. It should help the emotional eating."

Now I purely eat things to keep my body running. Sometimes it's even a chore for me to go eat, where as before I would jump at the chance for meals and snacks. When I think about it now, its sickening...and no wonder I got so heavy."

You have to put good things into it to have your body run well, just like a car. Sounds silly, but that's what I think about now when choosing what to eat. Food= Fuel.... LOL"

Basically i just eat because i need the energy and to satify my stomach, not for pleasure.
Weird, but it works fine for me, as i haven't had any cravings for a long time :)"

One of my biggest hang-ups was convincing myself that I didn't need those foods just because we were going out and it was a "special occasion." I had to keep telling myelf that this isn't the last opportunity to eat these things and that going out isn't about chicken alfredo or whatever but about being with friends and socializing, not eating. Maybe that sounds stupid, but that is just something that I have struggled with for years when it comes to how I think about food."
