Heather said: "I decided to start a lower carb diet yesterday. I am not following Atkins word for word (like I am not cutting out fruits)
My daily eats:
Breakfast: small banana
Lunch: Hard Salami and Cheese Cubes
Dinner: Steamed Asparagus, 2 Baked Portie Shrooms with Muenster Cheese and crisp bacon, and some turkey sausage.
Extras: 1 tablespoon flax seed oil, cheese cubes, and an apple.
I did one half an hour on my fitness ball working my core muscles.
Tomorrow I have karate.
I plan on weighing in on Sunday and posting my results here. So many others are having such great success I don't want to fall behind!
I set my sights for losing 10 pounds by the end of March.
It's time to get it done!"
Heather said: "Thanks for your reply.
That is one of the concerns with Atkins. A lot of saturated fat. I do normally eat skinless, boneless chicken breast, in fact I had it tonight for dinner. Along with a green salad, and steamed broccoli.
I took a tablespoon of Flax Seed oil as well. I have read some good things about adding it, especially since I'm positive I don't get enough of it.
It helps to combat brown fat.
I had 3 hours of karate tonight, and I'm feeling pretty energized right this second. I always feel like that after class. It's a good reason to go to every class."

I haven't been snacking really at all. I also decided to not wait till Sunday to weigh in. Instead I hopped on today.
It read 151!
After being "stuck" for some time, I was really happy to see the scale go down, even if it was just a pound or two.
Thanks for listening!"

Thanks!
How are things going for you?"
Razor said: "That is some pretty fatty meals. You probably should watch that saturated fat intake. I am a low carber as well, but I only eat lean proteins. You took in some Flax Seed oil which is normally good and would be good if you did not take in so much saturated fats earlier in the day. From what I gather from your post is that you decided to lose weight and you decided to cut out carbs because you think they are the enemy, but not fruit! You know that is healthy so you kept it in. You cut out whole grains, but you kept in meats very high in saturated fat and I am thinking maybe you thought these meats were okay because the Atkins diets have them. I mean you say you aren't following it word for word because you kept fruits in, but you followed it keeping in very fatty meats and cheeses. Most likely because they taste good. I would suggest you try a week of cutting out all starch type carbs and keeping in veggies and fruit. Maybe try something like this instead
Breakfast: Banana, 3 egg whites 1 yolk scrambled w/salsa
Snack: Grilled chicken strips, small apple
Lunch: (leftovers from dinner) - Grilled fish/chicken/lean red meat and your favorite steamed or boiled veggie
Snack: Cucumbers/tomatoes in red wine vinegar with garlic salt
Dinner: A lean meat with your favorite veggie"
