What's your motivation?

lambchop said: "I was just wondering what everyone's motivation for losing weight was or what keeps you going every day. That's the problem I have. It's not that I don't know *what* to do to lose weight, it's that I can't stay consistant with it because I don't have that defining thing that gets my butt outside walking everyday. Or that determination that keeps me from eating ice cream. The only reason I even really try at all is because the scale tells me I need to do it. Maybe I can borrow someone else's strength?"

(This time it's my 20-year high school reunion happening in June.) If I don't have an occasion or event to look forward to, I just plan one! My husband likes it when I plan a special date for us. He doesn't know that I play mind games with myself for a whole month (or so) in advance by saying, "you want to look good in your black jeans when you go out, so don't eat that doughnut!" However, logically I know that I would be even more successful if I were to find my own internal motivation and then live healthily just because it's right. Jen"

It helps your self esteem, quality of life, and maybe even your mood in general. Everyone here should be very proud of the lifestyle changes they have made to improve their life and their health."

UniqueMystique said: "My motivation was that I started feeling like I came last in my life...and in everyone elses. I had been diagnosed with pre-cancerous cervical cells in the midst of this feeling of being last. I was mad at the world. My motivation came when I stepped on the scales and saw that I was well over 200 pounds. I decided right then and there that I needed to put myself first. I was already diagnosed with something horrible....what was next? Diabetes? High Blood Pressure? Heart Disease? I'm determined to live a long, adventurous life. You can't help others if you don't help yourself."

Like u not because i didn't know how, but because it was easier to sit on the couch rather then to go work out. My motivation was i had to buy my daughter who is 2 1/2 a "big girl bed" After we put it together i noticed the 200 lb weight limit and it broke my heart. SO then i decided that i was going to do this for her. Cuz she needs her mommy around and I need to be able to do fun things with her and not feel like Im gonna croak when i have to ride a bike or go to the park!!"

Plus the fact that my mind is still telling me to get out and enjoy life and my out of shape body wont let me. Just the little things that most people take for granted-tying shoes without panting! Shopping at wal-mart without being winded by the end of the trip. Fitting comfortably in a booth or one of those chairs that are attached to the tables at the fast food joints. Being able to buy clothes because you like the way it looks instead of settling for anything in your size no matter how ugly. Not having to put baby powder in those little creases you arent supposed to have. Being able to do everyday household chores without taking breaks all the time. And one of the biggest of all is not wanting my son to feel ahamed because he has the fat mom."

My fiance says he loves me no matter what and he does not care how much I weight, but I know every man would rather be with a skinny woman. Knowing that I am not doing this for him I am doing this to make me feel better and I want other men to be jelouse of him cause he is with a good looking woman. I am trying not to eat as many sweets. I am not sure if you have tried it but Splenda is wonderful. My sister and I use it alot. You can get ice cream, candy, Jello pudding snacks, even cokes maked with it. We use it alot in cooking or just to sweeten with instead of sugar. I try to stay away from aspertame (sp?). Just a sugestion so you can have that ice cream and not feel so guilty."
