My Sucess, check this out. Simple, yet great!

CK101 said: "Hey all, I thought I would post here for all those looking to lose weight to have some hope. Anyway, I'm 18 and I weigh 184, I have a broad type body and I have built quite a bit of muscle actually, my thin (non-fat at all) weight from all I've researched is about 165-170, I started out December 1st 2004 at around 215 lbs, I am now down at 184, In a little under 3 months I have managed to lose 31 pounds. Yay! What I did was start out eating around 1200 calories a day, and did that for about 2 months and and this month I have been eating around 1200-1400, at first I was stayin around 1000 calories a day and I wasn't hungry or de-engergized. I am pretty active, but I am not somebody who constantly exersizes, I work out a few times a week to build muscle but other than that, I just do alot of walking when I go somewhere, at first I was stayin around 1000 calories a day and I wasn't hungry or de-engergized. I stay away from fast food at all costs too I might add. I don't plan any special meals or nothing. I never know what I'm gonna eat lol. Just thought I'd share what I've accomplished with my diet. 30 pounds down, 14 to go! I might add, the secret is calories. Carbs are lame. If you want to maintain a 1500 day calorie diet, make sure you drink ALL diet drinks and/or water. Check the calories on everything you drink, if you do that you can't eat to much unless you just eat 5 meals a day... Trust me, it works."

CK101 said: "Thanks, what I said about carbs, I didn't mean it that way, I just meant, that through all my research, and trial and error, calories mean alot more than carbs, and carbs always seem temporary weight loss to alot of people, but as you said mystique, not everything works for everyone. Anyways, thanks again."

Persistance with exercise helps as well. I think the main thing about carbs is that if they aren't burned right away, your body will metabolise them as a sugar. Then turned to ugly fat. :( Keep up the good work!"

UniqueMystique said: "Hi Ya Ck101....congrats on the loss. Keep it up! I'd like to point out something though. Carbs may be lame to you. It may not work for you. But like we keep learning here on the forums...not every system works for everyone. Everyone is different and everyone's body processes things differently. What works for one...may not work for another. I don't think there's really any lame way to lose weight. As long as people are making an effort to lose the weight to 'get' and 'stay' healthy and that they are doing some sort of long term physical activity to ensure that the weight does not return."

UniqueMystique said: "Weight loss is only temporary if we allow it to be. We are in control...not the weight!"

UniqueMystique said: "That's true, Snap!!! I know that I exercise very aggressively if I consume pasta, rice, potatoes, or bread. I really like some things that contain carbs....but most I can do without. I wish that I liked fruit more.....just not real big on it tastewise. :("

iowamomma2002 said: "i am using a page on the net that i got from self magazine that tracks the food/calories/excersize and all that and when it breaks down my diet i also find that i am eating fewer calories but it seems i am eating alot of carbs dang carbs are everywhere "

Complex carbs are what to consume, but keep in mind the GI index. SnapPea, Some carbs do not burn right away and are very slow burning these are low on the GI scale. You can base it by fiber. Legumes are very low and are slow burning. Anything with a lot of fiber can be considered low GI. An hour before I workout I consume high fiber slow burning carbs. I usually eat some kidney beans. These are slow burning so as I am doing my workout my body is providing me energy throughout the workout because I ate slow burning carbs an hour ago. Immediatly after my workout I consume simple carbs in the form of dextrose with some protein. This is a super fast burning carb and shuttles the protein and gluclose immediatly into my muscle which have been depleted of gluclose."

A great complex carb for snacking is all natural nothing on it popcorn =) it's a whole grain and good source of fiber."
