Did You Know?????......Did You Know?????......

Thank you for sharing that. I always was aware that couph syrup contained calories, but never paid too much attention to the carb content. I will have to check out a label the next time I'm at the store."

Taking meds and going about your daily business is gonna make the sickness last longer. For things like colds, you're often NOT helping yourself (sometimes you need to sneeze or cough stuff out!). I know with busy lives that symptom suppressors are a good quick fix, but if you can spare the time, get well the old-fashioned way!"

Spoonable cough and cold products can pack a surprising high-carb punch: In one analysis, a leading liquid multisymptom cough remedy was found to contain 19 grams of carbs per dose---just shy of the 20 grams many diets allot for the entire day! "Using such a product even once can shut off your body's ability to burn fat for 24 hours," says Mary Vernon, M.D.
Pankillers = Water Weight
Pain relievers like ibuprofen and naproxen can blunt the kidney's ability to process fluids, triggering bloat that can rapidly pack on pounds, explains Dr. Klauer. To dodge the risk, consider aspirin.
Allergy Meds = Trapped Fat
Antihistimines such as diphenhydramine, found in allergy and sleep aides, can mean double trouble."They can fuel overeating by blocking appetite controlling histamine", warns Dr. Klauer. "Also, they can boost levels of cortisol, which signals the body to produce the fat-storing hormone insulin.""

Sometimes people pop pills for minor things.
There are natural remedies out there worth trying too.
I, for one, took a lot of pain killers for headaches and a lot more antihistimines for sniffles this past year. This info has made me stop and think..."Do I really need to take something right now?" Sometimes...with time, things get better. Then there are those times when they don't...then I break out the meds. :)"

For the few days you are ill, you probably won't be losing a lot of weight anyway. Therefore, take the medication and as soon as you feel better, get back on your weight loss goals.
Also, some manufacturers are making sugar free items. For example, you can get Halls cough drops (or throat lozenges) in sugar free form. Often when I have a sore throat or cough, I suck on these all day. With the sugar form, my mouth tastes nasty by late afternoon due to all the sugar. But with the sugar-free form, not only does my throat feel better, but I don't have that nasty sugar overdose taste either. They may be a bit more expensive, but I think they are worth it! So be sure to look for sugar-free options."
