7 day challenge7 day challenge

Scarlett said: "Count me IN!!
Although I am starting today...I didn't bring my lunch with me UGh, so today I am skipping it and will make up for the missed meal with a snack when I get home.
Maybe then I'll start tomorrow too hehe, and just do today as a preamble!"
Scarlett said: "
OK I restarted my 7 day challenge to coincide with the New Year. My goal isn't to exercise 30 minutes though.... I plan on running a mile each day (of the entire month) and pay attention to my eating. Been doing well so far!
Very good idea, I think I might have to join you in running one mile each day this month..."
Scarlett said: "
Scarlett, well you know I just haven't been running as consistently as I like, and I figure 1 mile is (at the MOST) 15 minutes. I am switching between intervals and paced runs everyday. Yesterday was my pace run, and I did 1 mile in just under 13 minutes. Today was intervals, and I did 1 mile in just under 12. I figure by the end of the month I should be seeing drastic results on my one mile run. I'm hoping to get the pace to 10 minute mile, or under. Next month I will bump my daily run up to 1.5 miles. I'm not even walking during the 1 mile run, so I'm feeling great about that!!! :D
Nah I haven't been that consistent with it either over the last month, I have been doing more sporatic runs.
I definatley have to say that running a mile a day will REALLY help you a LOT, you'll see dramatic results methinks.
Last night instead of running however, I went swimming, but I ran in the pool!! If the heater is still on I'm going to swim again tonight, then go running the rest of the month (since we don't have many winter days where it is warm enough outside to put the heater on in the pool to have the water be as warm as the air ;))."
fitwitch said: "OK... I'm in.... starting.... Ugh... Today I guess... LOL! I've been watching what I'm eating all day today... trying to keep my intake to around 1500 cals or 25g of fat.... I've met my protein goal and my fiber goal for the day though so... wooohooo!
30 minutes of exercise... hmmm.... I think I'll walk today. Maybe do yoga later."
fitwitch said: "The freezer idea is really good.... I got some candy in my stocking from Santa.... some white chocolate peppermint meltaways and some peppermint bark... MMMMMMMMMMMMMMMM
First thing I did was cut the peppermint bark into .5 ounce servings (so one small square about 2 inches by 2 inches) put them into a baggie, back into the tin they came in and right into the freezer. the same with the white chocolate peppermint meltaways....
If I hadn't done that they would be half gone by now... but so far i've had one piece of the peppermint bark and only 4 of the white chocolate peppermint meltaways since christmas!"

fitwitch said: "Today is day 4 of my 7 day challenge and here is how I've done so far:
Sunday Jan 1 - I didn't do an actual run on the treadmill, but I walked more than 2 miles (1 mile to check the mail and then back) with my family, I did a bit of jogging with the dogs.... and Hula Hooped for 10 minutes.
Monday Jan 2 - Jogged 1 mile in 12:57 minutes
Tuesday Jan 3 - Jogged Intervals 1 mile in 11:51 minutes
Wednesday Jan 4 - Jogged 1 mile in 11 minutes (actually did 1.5 miles though in 16:25 minutes, but still tracking 1 mile run time)
such drastic results just over the course of 4 days! I may see my 10 minute mile YET!"
fitwitch said: "One more day to my 7 day challenge! I already did my workout today, ran 1 mile in 11 minutes and 30 seconds. My time is getting better for sure! My legs feel like they're going to fall of during the run though... I wonder if I'm pushing myself too hard or if it is just due to lack of water from yesterday? I'm not HURTING, just sore and.... jelly-like in the leg area.
I also did yoga last night so that could have something to do with it. I got Yoga Conditioning for Weight Loss with Suzanne Deeson last night. I used this video regularly after my daughter was born, along with Tae-Bo every day (sometimes twice a day I think.) And I lost all of my baby weight after she was born and was back at my pre-pregnancy weight of 140. I gave the video to a friend, and just went and bought the DVD last night to hopefully get back into the swing of things and bring my weight back down. I plan on adding this video to my workout routine, three times a week... slowly progressing to everyday. I will also be going to Yoga class at the club twice a week (money for gas permitting... I live a half an hour to 45 minutes away) also. So...
Reflecting on this last week of this challenge.... I think that doing a seven day challenge is a great idea, and maybe we should keep it up? Maybe post by the dates instead of just 7 day challenge? Make them mini-challenges within the larger challenge of the month. I know that when I break things down into smaller challenges like that, it seems easier to accomplish... baby steps lead to larger advances."
fitwitch said: "OK, today is the last day of the 7 day challenge! I am not going to run today, but I am going to swim this evening. I will probably try for 30 minutes to an hour of easy swimming to relax, and maybe some time in the hot tub to try to loosen these muscles. I did Pilates just now, and man.... I haven't done that DVD in awhile, and only 22 minutes was a challenge for me.
If there isn't a new thread started tomorrow for another 7 day challenge, I'll start one for those that might want to break down their bigger challenges into bite sized chunks.
Thanks for the 7 day challenge! I've really enjoyed it!"
manda said: "I am starting a 7 day challenge tomorrow and that challenge is to eat heathily including 3 main meals and 2 snacks a day.To avoid sugary processes foods and to exercise for atleast 30 mins a day.
I thought that i would invite all of you guys to join in with me. You can start on another day if that suits yous but i will be starting tomorrow as a early start to the new year.
Its like the saying ill start on Monday. Well that never happens so i just made the decision that i would start earlier. To get bak into the habbits that i was doing before christmas and before this year.
I know i can do this and that all of you can aswell. I will probably continue for longer then 7 days but it is a start.
Amanda"
manda said: "Wow people are really getting into this challenge and it is great to see. I didnt do so well the first day but i started my seven days again yesterday and i did really well. I ate healthy choices with what was available to me and with it being summer here in Australia i got 2 hours of exercise in at the beach with kids. My legs were killing me by the end of the day. Swimming and running and walking on the sand. Defiently a lower body workout.
Today i am going to write out menus and do some shopping. For exercise i am going to try and get to the gym and workout but for some reason if that doesnt happen then i will do my tape workout and maybe even go for a bike ride. Will see what happens.
Amanda"
manda said: "Ok So far off to a good start. 3 healthy days in a row.
Yesterday ate really healthy and even though i struggled i did 30 mins exercise.
Today i have eaten healthily. Havent done exercise yet but certainly will.
Just a quick note to let you guys know that with the hot weather i am allowing myself one small ice cream per day. Just as a treat. But i have still cut out all other junk from my diet.
With the hot weather i am also getting back into salad sandwhiches which is good. Tonight i am have roast lamb and vegies which i am cooking and i will cook my vegies seperate to the others and just use spray oil on mine.
I am just moderating what i have so i dont miss out but are making healthier choices.
I havent had things that i wouldve just last week like chocolate or doughnuts or chips i have either gone with out or had a healthier choice instead.
Well take care Got to go organise dinner.
Amanda"
manda said: "Sounds fantastic. You are doing really well.
I am feeling really positive about my challenge. Have been doing it for 4 days now so only 3 days to go and really enjoying it. Only thing im struggling with the last couple of days is breakfast.
I really cant be bothered with it at the moment. Might go and have a sustagen for breakfast. Something quick and easy and i still get the vitamins to get me through to morning tea. Infact i probably get more from that then just haveing litebix.
Hope everyone else is doing well

lotsa fruits and veg and 'good' meats... and i promise, i really really really promise i'll try and lay off the carbs (but they taste soooo good!) hell - while i'm at it i should give up all my vices - forget booze and forget tv, embrace exercise... A different vice for seven days and seven sins! and we can start on gluttony!
and as for extending this - when i get to the end of seven moons and days - and just taking my first breath of air - and contemplating which sin i should commit first - please berate me until i promise to at least try for another seven days !!!! please please please - i work really well so long as someone bullies me (there were plenty of them around in grade seven so why can't i find one now when i need one?!?)

the ingredients are as you would expect.. flour and butter and cocoa and eggs and cooking chocolate... only there's two cups of flour to two cups of sugar!!! and there's 250 grams of butter!!! and then to top it off 200 grams of chocolate!!! and that's only for one cake (we're makign two here!) but i'm thinking - this is good - i won't be tempted to walk in the footsteps of the devil as it won't be sititng in the refrigerater tempting me - instead it will be across the other side of the river and the bane in somebody else's life eg. the girl who is mates with my bro...
but now - i can smell it - and for all that butter and chocolate it is soooo good and my brother's offering me some for helping him... and at the same time i've got a flu and it seems like the whole world is taunting me... the devil himself is sitting on his haunches and poking me with his pointy three pronged staff whilst simultaneously offering me the very core of my most terrible sin!
argh... and meanwhile i'm sitting here thinking: carrot sticks celery sticks carrot sticks celery sticks carrot sticks celery sticks carrot sticks celery sticks carrot sticks celery sticks grape (little bit of variation happening here!) carrot sticks celery sticks carrot sticks celery sticks carrot sticks celery sticks carrot sticks celery sticks carrot sticks celery sticks
please somebody - berate me and give me strenght cos i miss that vital characteristic - willpower....
jo
PS - it was good to let all that nonsensical crap to fall from my fingers onto the screen! better go now cos the cake is nearly finished cooling and we have to ice it really really pretty. :( :o :("
just yodelling by said: "oh god - he left half of it in the fridge - what am i to dooooooooo!!??!!... i'll just have to satisfy myself with a little tid bit - and we all know what happens after that!!! somebody step in and save this robust damsel in distress"

phattygurl said: "That sounds good. I should do that. it's so hard for me to eat breakfast. As soon as I get up in the morning i'm either on the treadmil or doing yoga. but they say breakfast is the most important meal of the day"

Well were in this together. Would like to see how everyone else is doing. Everyone Keep up the good work. Summer is not far off. And like I was last summer. I was miserable because I didn't do anything."
Sarah_B said: "Ok! I'm in! Sounds like a plan to me. I am going to get spandex shorts tonight so I can exercise without chaifing. Whoo Hoo! I want to exercise no less than 4 times a week for at least 30 minutes...more if my 4 year old son will let me.
I'm also trying to eat more durring the day and drink lots of water. My boyfriend bought me a Brita Water filter, and it makes tap water taste so good! Also I'm going to stay AWAY from the chocolate and junk here at work. People are always bringing crap in, I just have to say no. I'm also doing the Special K Challenge....replacing 2 meals with Special K...lose up to 6lbs in 2 weeks. I love that stuff so it's easy for me to do. I'm excited to start this! I'm going try my absolute hardest to stick with this!"
