Valentine Temptations

brastasi said: "Okay, has anyone else given in to that sweet tooth or sweet hunger that hangs around on valentines day. I was doing so good today. The fouth graders had a party, and I resisted all the cupcakes, cookies, and chips. Ah, but I went to pick up my son, and guess what? He had one of the biggest bags full of treats and cards. I ate the hershey's part, I then ate the tootsie roll (it was fat). I then realized I was so hungry that I went inside and fixed a peanut butter sandwich (one slice whole wheat with 1/3 less fat) If that helps  I am still hungry. I did walk uphill on the treadmill and burned 384 cal. today. But I hat what sugar does to our body. I could not think straight :p Anyone else having a Valentine Temptation?"

I had a vanilla ice cream sorbet dessert and then I had a dessert drink of Bailey's on the rocks. Of course I ate like crap. It was Valentine's Day. Since this was in the weight loss challenge forum, I will say that one of the biggest challenges we face is telling ourselves we CAN'T have something. We drill this in our brains as we are staring at a piece of chocolate. This is why we fail day after day. Do not deny yourself of anything. Everything is okay in MODERATION! The more we sit there and look at that piece of cake and keep repeating in our heads that we can't have that, then we are going to give in and eat it and when we do we are going to eat the whole thing, and then say to ourselves "well I ate that whole cake so I mine as well eat like crap the rest of the day since I already ruined this day" This is where we fail. Eat good all the time and have your treats every now and then. Instead of saying I can't have that over and over again while you are drooling over it. Let yourself have a small amount and then get back on the health train. If you mess up during the day and eat a whole cake, do not let it ruin your efforts for the rest of the day. Eat healthy for the rest of the day and try to eat only 1 piece next time."
