Fat People on Maury PovichFat People on Maury Povich
pixiechic said: "i was listening to a radio show this morning and they were talking about a man that weighed 1,072 pounds. he had already lost over 400 pounds, and is trying
to lose enough weight to qualify for gastric bypass surgery, to help loose the rest of the weight.
that road has to be incredibly tough."
asylum2099 said: "That would be insane! But you know, they would burn a ton more calories compared to an average overweight person."
believe said: "I know what you mean. To have to loose that much weight would be awful. Has anyone ever seen the shows with overweight kids. I don't know if the parents/mothers actually even really feed their kids that amount of food byt they sure are overweight. And I hate it because they run around on stage in just underpants and or daipers and nor tops/shirts the boys and the girls. I have not seen a maury show for almost a year now because of that. They don't have to do that. Put a shirt on the kids we can see that the child is overweight and needs some help with the shirt/top on. Just for rating its a disgrace you know!!"
pixiechic said: "you are right about that. you would think that maury would at least be sure that the poor heavy babies had a shirt and some pants for his show.
the mothers make me angry. i just don't understand how they can justify raising their kids this way."

Not only do they have all of that weight, their muscles have to be so weak, so even the simple task of walking (something everyone else takes for granted) is incredibly hard.
It would almost have to take a total rewiring of every bad habit they have in order to make changes to stay alive.
Being alive without being able to live is no life at all..
I SO AGREE WITH WHAT YOU SAID!!! I know how it felt to have trouble doing the little things we take for granted, but these people have it very hard. I couln't imagine having to lose that much weight. Sometimes it gets overwhelming thinking about how much weight I need to lose still. We do not have it so bad."
Yum said: "Omg I saw that one. It was so funnny becuase the mom is like " why is my three year old 140lbs?" and then she's like, yea but I feed him whatever I want, why shouldn't I?? Seriously that's what she said."
determinedtolose said: "
Most of the moms seem short a card.
The fathers never seem to go on the show, either. I wonder if that has anything to do with the over feeding that goes on?
You know a lot of parents nurture their children with food. If they have a bad day...give em food...if they win at something...give them food...if they are aggrevating you...give em food. It is a very unhealthy cycle. Some parents were parented the same way or they have self control issues themselves. What a shame."

The only thing is they have a LOT more calories to burn than the 'average' person.
It takes a lot of determination and strong will to lose that kind of weight."
Darren said: "I'm watching people today who are 700 plus. Makes me realize losing 60 or 70 pounds like I have to do is not the end of the world. I'd hate to have to lose 200 just to have 400 to go, if you know what I mean."
Darren said: "I think at the point of 700 pounds, everything has to be considered critical! I just think someone is feeding these people. So they have a co-dependence or something.
All of them say they're addicted to food. Really, we're all addicted to food. If we didn't eat it, we'd die. That's why losing weight is harder than quitting smoking. Because you can't just cut food out of your life forever."
Darren said: "You aren't kidding. One kid was 140 pounds at age 3! Where do you go from there. And yeah, Maury makes them come out in diapers!"
UniqueMystique said: "That's so true, BigBoy.....we have it fairly easy compared to others."
spectrachic311 said: "It would be so difficult to lose, yeah, like 600 lbs or something. That makes dropping 50 lbs seem like a drop in the bucket. I can't imagine what life would be like if I couldn't, you know, tie my shoes or walk up stairs or sit in normal chairs, etc. But yeah, I also wonder how many of them were always that big too...like on Maury, I saw the fat baby episode where these moms were like "little Johnny only eats brownies, ice cream and poptarts because he's so sweet"...and then wonder why their 3 year old weighs 140lbs. Those poor kids are screwed as far as nutrition goes. It makes me sad...it's not like the kids can even help it, of course they're going to want a poptart versus brussels sprouts (what kid wouldn't?) but parents need to be parents and that's part of parenting: making sure your child gets adequate nutrition."
