Advantages Of Bodyweight Exercises

December 6, 2007 – 5:23 pm

Bodyweight exercises are certainly not glamorous. But that doesn’t mean you should shy away from them. Bodyweight exercises tend to be one of the most affordable and effective exercise methods you can use. If budget is an issue that’s been keeping you away from beginning a fitness campaign, then using your own bodyweight instead of joining a gym makes a lot of sense!

Bodyweight exercises might be for you:

1) If you absolutely do not want to spend any money on your fitness routine. It’s not a bad idea to think this way. So many times you get ripped off when you embark on “getting in shape” that it pays to be cynical and frugal. You can’t find anything that is cheaper than this.

2) You are really out of shape. Using your own bodyweight, you’re basically unlikely to hurt yourself. If you exert too hard, you won’t be able to do the movement. This regulates the risk of injury.

3) You crave functional strength.
Bodyweight exercises might not make you look like a stud at the beach, but they make you strong. Developing functional strength should be a goal of any fitness program.

4) You’re ready to start and you don’t want to learn a lot. Most bodyweight exercises you’ll remember from when you’re a kid.

5) Bodyweight exercises are fun! Okay, they aren’t fun, really. But they do work and that should put a smile on your face.

If you haven’t considered the concept of bodyweight exercises, I urge you to do so now. In the next weeks we’ll cover the basic concepts of bodyweight exercises and how you can use them to your advantage.
