Are you looking to start a fitness plan but want to keep the costs low and do it from the privacy of your own home?

Here are some suggestions to start an affordable home fitness plan.

1. Jump rope. A jump rope can easily be had for under 10 dollars and 10 minutes is enough to get your heart pumping.

2. Hand weights. Hand weights are available at almost any Wal-Mart or fitness store and are relatively inexpensive. These can be used to tone your biceps, triceps and shoulders. For maximum comfort, choose a hand weight that has a rubber encasing and use a low weight so as not to injure yourself. Three pounds might be heavier than you think after 3 sets of 15!

3. Exercise DVD’s. Use an exercise video to get started. It’s like taking part in a class without
having to join one. This could be convenient for those that have children at home or aren’t ready to join a gym.

4. Running- Jogging- Walking Shoes. These can be used to start a fitness program that implements this type of exercise to get started. Make sure that they fit right and are comfortable when you purchase them, because a lot of times shoes don’t feel better, especially after logging a few miles in them.

I hope that these ideas help you get started on building your fitness kick at home.
