Natural Ways to Fight Fatigue

Greetings –
My new favorite magazine, Woman’s World, had a good article about natural ways to fight fatigue. I think many of us spend a lot of time feeling more tired than we should. I believe a lot of that is due to poor diets and sedentary jobs that don’t allow the blood to circulate properly. I personally sit at a desk, writing all day and I find that when my eyelids start drooping, if I get up and walk around for a while I start to feel better.

Here are some extra tips to help you keep fatigue at bay:

Sit up straight instead of slumping. I’m a habitual slumper and have to consciously correct my posture while sitting at my desk. According to this article, it only takes 15 minutes of the not sitting correctly to start to tire the muscles in your neck, shoulder and back. It’s better to assume a slightly reclined position in order to correct this, (I’m doing it as I type).

Have a banana break. Bananas have sucrose, fructose and glucose, which are three natural sugars. This will help you to feel more energized and get some extra fiber as a bonus.

By rubbing your ears, you can stimulate acupressure points that will help to reenergize you. You should do this for one minute, until your ear gets warm. This is a sign that your blood is circulating

Cold water will also help you to wake up. Splash some on your face and the back of your neck, and then gargle with it. Because of the sudden shock of the cold water, blood will head off to the other muscles in your body.

Coffee, despite the caffeine, can actually drain you of energy. Because of the caffeine, it can cause dehydration which will bring on fatigue. Sadly, (since I’m a coffee addict), you should only drink 2 to 3 cups per day.

I would love to hear from anyone who tried these methods, to find out if they worked for them. Today’s confirmation is: I will not let fatigue slow me down. Say it 10 times and mean it. Peace-Rhonda

  2. I use the “water trick” a lot. Drink about 1 liter of water within 1/2 an hour. You will feel more awake almost instantly. The only thing is, you’ll have to visit the bathroom more often.

Also, if you drink coffee and then a lot of water, you really will be awake because you won’t get the dehydration.
