The Only Thing Better Than The Push-Up: The Sit Up

Even this fop knows the correct way to do sit ups.
That’s right. There’s only one thing better than a push up, and that’s the never-out-of-fashion sit-up. If you need to get flat abs in a hurry, what will you do? Do you really think you can avoid doing sit-ups? No way, it’s not gonna happen! No matter what, you need to get that ab work in.
The sit up is not a fancy exercise:
The sit-up is a strength training exercise. To perform it, a person lies down on the floor with his or her knees bent at 90 degrees, and then sits up without moving his or her knees. The hands are placed behind the head/neck, across the chest or straightened out parallel to the body. It is intended to work the abdominal muscles, but it also utilizes the hip flexors and lower back
The one big drawback of the sit up is the fact it can strain you if not done correctly. For this reason, the sit up has fallen out of favor with the “in crowd”. Many people do crunches only, and completely ignore the sit up.
The main thing to remember when doing sit ups, is don’t pull on your neck and strain it! Use proper form, or don’t do these at all. You can also do variations that work your obliques.
Don’t overlook the classics in your quest for better conditioning.
