Rocky road push ups to the championship.

Are you looking to get into shape? Then you can’t ignore an exercise that’s been around for years. The military loves them, and so do boxers, and martial artists of every discipline. What exercise can be so versatile and not require you to pay an arm and a leg? The good-old-fashioned push up.

What areas do a push up work?

Push ups are a good exercise for deltoids, pecs, and triceps. They serve to give you very good functional upper body strength, and they will also help your stabilizer muscles and your joints. They can help with co-ordination.

I want to break the world record for doing push ups

Well, good luck. Because you’ll need over 10,000 of them just to enter the competitions. That’s right:

The World Record for non-stop pushups is 10,507 by Minoru Yoshida of Japan on October, 1980.

How can I make my mis-behaving children behave?

Well, push ups have long been used for physical punishment. “Drop and give me 20″. If your kids are rambunctious, a couple 20 packs of push ups just might cure them, and make them fit to boot!

Bring back the push up

Alrighty, reader, I want you to drop and gimme 20. Or 10. Or 3, if need be. Whatever you do today, do some push ups. They’re easy and free, and heck, they’re fun! There’s nothing quite as fun as doing pushups.

Are you ready?
