How Our Taste Buds Change Over The Years
September 16, 2006 – 11:56 amI was thinking about this yesterday as I pulled some tomato soup out of the cupboard to make a light lunch.
I hate tomato soup.
Or at least I used to. If you were to have asked me 15 years ago what my least favorite soup was, it would have been tomato, with the exception of the dry tomato soup made by Lipton that you can’t find anymore.
Some of the taste changes have been forced by me, like becoming a vegetarian. I couldn’t imagine how weird the taste and texture of meat would be all these months later.
Not only have my tastes changed, my digestive system has too. The last two times I’ve indulged” myself with a tasty ice cream treat I’ve paid the price dearly in the bathroom, so I won’t be eating any ice cream anytime soon.
It’s weird how taste buds can change so dramatically over a few years. Perhaps it’s just a part of growing older? What are your thoughts?

As I like to call it,
I loved carrot stew, but now I almost puke when I smell it. So I kind of have the feeling you do.
you do loose some sense of taste. But mostly in your head. It takes 7 yrs. to devolp new taste. And during those seven yrs. you do start liking more things.
And don;t worry about it,
tongue cancer is very rare. I highly doubt you have it, your just having change.
Thanks!
Sincerely,
Josiah Lee.
