Low Fat Diet

Low fat diets never completely go out of style, and for good reason. Lowering your intake of fat is one of the best and most reliable ways to prevent the risks of heart disease. For years, the medical community has railed against the effects of too much fat consumption, but in recent years, it seems as if not enough people have listened to the warnings.

Other studies are not so sure of the positive effects of low fat diets:

“Based on our findings, we cannot recommend that most women should follow a low-fat diet,” said Jacques Rossouw of the National Heart, Lung and Blood Institute, which funded the $415 million study.

There are, of course, many other studies which contradict this, and as always, you’re forced to use your common sense as a guide when it comes to deciding what to do with your health. One of the obvious and key benefits of a low fat diet for someone looking to lose weight, is that fat is the most calorically dense thing you can eat. Eating less fat means consuming less calories, which is still the main proven way to lose weight.
