Are modern people doomed to being fat?

Of course no one should think they’re “doomed”. It’s a bad way to look at things. But realistically, modern people are almost guaranteed to keep on getting heavier, especially if the trends of the last 30 years continued. What trends would those be?
1) People became more sedative as conveniences increased
2) An emphasis on convenience was placed on the average person’s diet
3) People learned to eat out of their homes for nearly every meal
4) Highly processed foods became the norm
5) Information about weight loss became more confusing
The list could go on, but I’m sure you get the idea. A great number of pressures point towards people getting fatter. People are weak, and they’re being crushed by marketers who know how to push their buttons. Why would this change? The big money will be made year in and year out. People will be taught to eat out 21 times weekly. They’ll learn that portions sizes are the size of Texas. And they’ll become less fit as their lives continues to be dominated by gadgets and the internet.
What is being done about the issue? Very little. For that reason, the only possible course of action is a grass-roots movement that attempts to return sensible eating and living to modern people.
But the question is, is anyone working on this?

I think some companies are trying, but it will take a bigger combined effort to do any kind of good. Convenient food doesn’t have to be bad for you, it just usually is. I have seen some progress being made though…Starkist now has tuna/salmon cups that you don’t need to drain, so you can eat them on the go. They make precut veggies and salads that you can find at any store…prewashed and ready to go. Lots of grocery stores also have in-store salad bars that you can stop in and get something healthy if you’re on the run. I think a bigger effort has to be made by restaurants though…they are sabotaging most of the progress by offering humongous portions and encouraging eating way too much.

How about our leaders? Do they care? I doubt it.
Human progress is in peril.
