Just do it- yet another reason to get yourself an iPod

I bore easily. I usually like an exercise routine for about a week and then I feel like I’m stuck in a rut and it becomes a big drag. I need to switch things up pretty regularly- change the route my dog Piper and I take through the neighborhood, go at a different time of day, buy a new pair of shoes to do it in, etc.
Speaking of shoes, Nike has joined up with iPod up to create the newest of motivational gimmicks. Now your shoes can talk to you- through your iPod nano.

The newest line of Nike shoes, Nike+ , is designed to hold a small chip in the sole of the shoe which transmits information about your workout to you via your nano. It measures the time, distance, pace, and calories as you run or walk and can even be plugged into a computer at home to help you set goals and track your overall progress. And of course all the while your iPod will be doing what it does best- playing your favorite motivational tunes to keep your heart pumping. Running out of gas mid-workout??? Hit a button and your iPod will play your power song to get you moving again.
This is reading a little like an advertisement, I know, but I think this gadget is really cool. For me it’s been tough to stay interested in my workouts and to stay focused on the small successes instead of always just on my ultimate goal. I get a kick out of gadgets and gimmicks anyway- and if you can use them to liven up an otherwise dying fitness plan then more power to you! Hey, you gotta do what you gotta do. Plus I’ve wanted an iPod forever but haven’t been able to justify really needing one. But hmmm, now that my health may depend on it…
