Discount Fitness Equipment
September 4, 2006 – 9:14 amIf you are looking to get into better shape and you’re on budget, you should consider using discount fitness equipment. Just because you don’t have a lot to spend doesn’t mean that you can’t exercise!
If you’re looking for fitness equipment that doesn’t cost an arm and a leg, here are a few ideas.
A Jumprope Weighted jumpropes can be found at fitness stores or even your local Wal-Mart. Most jumpropes will cost under $20.00 and last for a long time. Jumping rope is one of the most effective ways to burn calories.

Handheld Weights Handheld weights are inexpensive and can be used to work your biceps, triceps, shoulders and chest. Handheld weights will add more resistance to your daily walking routine to burn a few extra calories, too.
Resistance Bands Resistance bands are made of rubber and are one of the least expensive ways for you to do resistance training. These bands can be used to work your thighs, your arms, your chest, or your shoulders. There are different bands for different levels of fitness, so be sure you choose the one that’s right for you. Resistance bands can be found at fitness stores and most major retailers like Wal-Mart or Target. They don’t require a lot of space for storage when not in use, either.
Shoes. Everyone needs shoes anyhow. A comfortable pair of fitness shoes will make your walks, jogs or runs that much easier.
If you don’t mind buying used fitness equipment, you might find some great deals at local garage sales, church rummage sales, or Ebay.com for pricier items like stationary bikes, treadmills or stepping machines.
The point is, you don’t have to spend a small fortune to get into shape. You just have to have the willpower and a few tools to get the job done.

I even saw a segment on TV where a stay-at-home mom successfully got in shape by using food cans and jugs of milk or juice instead of weights. That’s saving money and getting creative!

That sure is. I guess the main point is to stay motivated and not focus on the cost too much.
Situps and pushups are essentially free exercises.

Great idea, Rigel. You don’t really have to spend a lot of money..
Fitness Balls are pretty inexpensive and can be used for a number of different exercises, too.
They usually cost 20-30 dollars..
