Exercise Like A Kid

Having trouble getting started on an exercise routine? Then consider thinking like a kid again and doing some of the things you loved to do when you were young.

Here are some suggestions for exercise that make you think like a kid.. and burn calories..

  • Jumprope. 15 minutes of jumping rope moderately will burn around 200 calories, depending on your build.
  • Bike Riding. A half an hour on a moderately challenging bike ride will burn approximately 350 calories. Feeling the wind blowing through the air as you ride along makes you feel young again.
  • Rollerblading. 30 minutes of rollerblading or in-line skating burns around 540 calories.
  • Dancing. An hour of dancing can burn as many as 418 calories, and is a great way to express yourself, it helps relieve stress, too.
  • Frisbee. You remember the famous discus. An hour of tossing a frisbee can burn around
261 calories and Frisbees are cheap!
  • Other great exercise ideas are playing kickball, softball, using a hula-hoop (why not work those abs?) soccer, volleyball, or any other activity you can still enjoy as an adult. If you have kids of your own, have them join in with you and call it a family affair, because a family that plays together stays together. :)

    2. These are all great ideas. When I was a kid, we would play jumprope games during recess and it definitely didn’t feel like working out. We also played 4-square (don’t know if anyone else remembers that one) and tag. And my sister and I rode our bikes whenever we could! None of that stuff ever seemed like “work”…back then it was FUN! And it’s still fun. And it keeps you fit! Sounds like a great combo to me.
