Today is the first day of the rest of your life

Okay, when it comes to trite phrases, that one takes the cake. But, it’s just so true that you can’t ignore it. It doesn’t matter what you’ve done up until now. You have the power to control what you do, and to make positive changes in your life. No one else can do it for you, and ultimately you’re the main and only benefactor of your efforts.

So I say today really is the first day of the rest of your life, and it’s up to you to decide what you want to do with it. And whatever you decided to do, you go ahead and do it big, because half-measures will only yield fractional results and if you really want something then you have to stretch yourself to your maximum.

If you’re thinking that you can’t do something because you might have failed at it in the past, then you need to let that thought go. Past history doesn’t determine all of our actions. Otherwise we’d have no way to progress as people. So just forgive yourself and move on. Life is way to short to harbor the disappointments and failures of every day life.

Commit to something right now for the rest of the year. There’s still plenty of time in 2006 to achieve a goal for this year. But you must start right now. Today really is the day.
