It can be difficult to get through life without having cooking skills.

As Northern America grows more mobile, the number of meals prepared and eaten at home has decreased significantly, but this shouldn’t be an excuse for you not to learn some basic cooking skills.

Erik Christensen, of Absolutely.scrump-tio.us has just started a very interesting blog on cooking and cooking techniques.

Here are the things that Erik wants to accomplish with his blog:

First, I hope to give you good basic grounding in various cooking techniques. All good cooking starts with certain basics, and upon these you can build a culinary repertoire.

Second, I hope to give you inspiration. Sometimes it will come in the form of a great combination of flavors; other times it might be a special technique of cooking a particular ingredient. Whatever it is, I want you to be able to walk away with more ideas than you came in with.

Third, I hope to entertain you. Otherwise, why would you waste your time? If learning is not fun, then it isn’t learning!

Lastly, I hope to instill confidence that you can expand your culinary horizons, and create new dishes on the fly without so much as breaking open a cook book or searching for a recipe.

I’m going to “stay tuned” to learn how I can improve my own cooking skills. I urge you to do the same!
