Nestle to Buy Jenny Craig in a 600 Million Dollar Deal

It was announced that Swedish company, Nestle is going to purchase Jenny Craig, a leading weight loss product maker.

I think this is an interesting move for Nestle, since up until recently they have marketed and sold primarily candies. They also produce the Lean Cuisine Frozen Food Line, Powerbars and other various food lines. Last month Nestle acquired Uncle Tobys, for 670 million. Uncle Tobys is an Australian company that produces nutritional snacks and cereals.

All of these moves are being done to “continuing commitment to nutrition, health and wellness” of their consumer base.
