Just Add Fresh Fruit!
June 19, 2006 – 5:30 pmLooking for a light treat that satisfies your sweet tooth but doesn’t wreck your diet?
Then put down that candy bar and grab yourself a container of vanilla yogurt and your favorite fruits. It’s time to mix things up and eat a snack that’s healthy for you!
I’ve been using Dannon’s Light ‘n Fit (80 calories per 1 cup serving with no fat) Vanilla Yogurt and have been mixing it with all my favorite fresh fruits. Here are the ones I’ve tried so far:
- Sliced Bananas
- Fresh Pineapple
- Blueberries
- Raspberries
- Sliced Strawberries
- Chunky Applesauce
- Mandarin Oranges
- Seedless Grapes
- Fresh Melon
Take 1 cup of yogurt, then add as many (or as few) fruits as you like. I enjoy mixing bananas, grapes and pineapple. Mixed Berries are also nice. I don’t use a recipe, I just add fruit until it’s thick to stir. (It usually makes around 3 servings when all is said and done.)
If you like some crunch for a little added texture, and don’t mind a few extra calories, you can add granola (I use a brand called Bear Naked) on occasion.
The next time you have a taste for something sweet please consider this healthy treat!
