If you’re looking to add flavor and variety into your diet, here are a few condiments and toppings to add flare to your kitchen creations without all of the extra calories.

  • Salsa. Salsa is made from pure vegetables and contains only 5 calories for a 1 tablespoon serving. Salsa tastes great on baked potatos, in omelettes, or as a dip for fresh vegetables like carrots, celery or cucumbers. Use it to top veggie burgers or grilled chicken.
  • Tabasco. Turn up your inner furnace with some hot pepper sauce! Use a dash or two to spice up boneless chicken breasts or pork chops. Tabasco contains 1 calorie for a teaspoon serving, so a little goes a long way.
  • Fat Free Mayo. Using Fat free mayonnaise can significantly cut back on the number of calories in your favorite potato or pasta salad, and you’ll barely even notice a difference in taste. 1 tablespoon has about 10 calories and as advertised, contains no fat!
  • Plain Yogurt. Plain yogurt can be used to replace sour cream. Use it on baked potatoes, or in any recipe that calls for sour cream.

Keep your diet interesting with all of the condiments listed above to cut a few calories and add extra flavor to your next meal or snack.
