Your Thoughts on Human Cloning and Stem Cell Research.

Should scientists push embryonic stem cell research further?
I was reading an article about how scientists at Harvard have been cloning humans to create stem cells. These stem cells replace defective tissue with new tissue that grows in it’s place, healing the person afflicted and using stem cells as treatment.
This is being privately funded, and doesn’t involve the United States government.
The one issue that brings controversy is the fact that a human embryo must be destroyed in order to create the stem cells that save another persons life, and raising the question of whether science should be playing creator.
I’m torn on the idea, I would like to see cures available to mankind, but at the same time I don’t like the idea of creating life just to end it for the acquisition of stem cells.
I’d love to hear any opinions or thoughts..
