“You are What you Eat” or “You are What you Do”

I was thinking about these two phrases and wondered which was more accurate.

“You are what you eat” or “You are what you do” (referring to exercise, not your job)

Veggies Vs. Chips

I think both phrases are accurate because two things need to be done when you’re trying to change your overall lifestyle for improved health and weight loss.

If you’re overweight, chances are you didn’t get that way overnight. The likelihood of you going on a Slim Fast diet plan and feeling happy with it isn’t very good. After about 3 days of sipping on a “diet shake” that doesn’t taste quite right, most people are going to abandon this idea in favor of eating something that they like and in some cases, feel guilty about it later.

No food is good, and no food is bad. Some foods are better than others, but all of them can be enjoyed in moderation. If you’re not sure what moderation is, check out the nutritional values and serving sizes. In most cases a serving size isn’t an entire bag of something. For example, “Biggie” size Chips are actually 2 1/2 servings, not one, as some people might think.
Beware of “mindless” eating out of boredom or because your upset. All of these calories add up quickly.

Counting or cutting calories can help you lose weight, but in order to really fire up your metabolism, you’ve got to get moving! Try to incorporate at least 20-30 minutes of exercise into every day. For best results, make it something interesting that you enjoy doing. If you love to dance, put on your MP3 player and jam out or take a dance class. You can also walk, jog, ride bike, jump rope, do cardio classes at a gym. The goal is to raise your heartbeat, boost your metabolism and strengthen your muscles.

As your endurance and strength improves, you can keep it challenging by increasing the times or frequency of your workouts. Listen to your body to avoid injury.

Weight comes off with persistant effort and takes a lot of work.
