McDonald’s Adds a “Food Panel” for Advice

May 11, 2006 – 7:35 am

McDonald’s must be re-evaluating it’s marketing campaign. All the burgers, fries and Happy Meals aren’t helping society, and their corporation is under fire for being purveyors of food that makes people, especially children, overweight or obese.

This new panel includes 9 moms from around the world. They were brought on to provide guidance on topics like balanced and active lifestyle initiatives, restaurant communications and children’s well-being.

McDonald’s says that they’re looking for input to “better serve” moms and families worldwide.

They’ve recently added healthier choices such apples and juice instead of the
accepted fries and pop, so that’s a move in a positive direction.

I visited their website for some nutrition facts on a Cheeseburger Happy Meal with small fries and a childrens size Coke. Here’s the skinny..( or the fat)

    Total Calories: 670
    Total Fat 26 Grams
    Saturated Fats 8 Grams
    Transfats 4.5 Grams
    Cholesterol 40 whopping grams
    Sodium 890 MG
    Carbohydrates 94 Grams
    Dietary Fiber 4 Grams

I’m not sure what a panel of moms can do about the numbers on this heart clogging childrens meal. Other than choose not to take their children there.
