The Rice Diet has nothing to do with Rice. Rather, it is a rapid weight-loss program with medical supervision developed by Duke University for treatment of diabetes, hypertension and obesity. Phase 1: This phase consists mainly grains and fruits. Medical supervision is extremely important during this time and it is not recommended that the participant attempt this at home. Rice Diet experts recommend that you stay on Phase I as long as possible, at least half the time of your stay at the center.

Phase 2: This phase includes Phase 2 includes choices of vegetables, beans and other carbohydrates. Plus the grains and fruits of Phase 1. Fish is also served once per week.

How long does it take for the Rice Diet program to work? It may take up to 12 weeks or more depending on the health status of the participant.

How much does the Rice Diet program cost? Program fees for the first week are $2100, second week $ 900, for the third week it is $700, fourth week $500. Each additional week is $490.00. If the patient stays for 12 consecutive weeks or longer, the program fee is reduced to $370 per week beginning from the 13th week and each consecutive week thereafter.

At first look, the Rice Diet may look costly. But if you consider the cost of medication and hospital billings over the years, then the Rice Diet program is indeed good value for money. As it has a good success rate.
