Pregnancy Diet

Pregnant women must be careful of their diet, but no attempt at traditonal "dieting" should be attempted. Pregnancy requires a particular attention towards nutrition, and healthy eating must be of paramount importance.

While pregnant, women should avoid some foods and beverages. A partial list of these are:

  • Alcohol of any sort (Beer, Wine, etc)
  • Junk Food
  • Highly processed foods
  • Foods overly high in fat
  • Unpasteurized foods of any sort

Eating too little can be a real cause for concern when pregnant. You must make every effort to eat a sufficient amount of food for both yourself and your unborn infant. Fresh fruits and vegetables make an excellent choice for expecting mothers.

Please be careful of most fish while pregnant. This includes: swordfish and shellfish. Make sure all your meats are thoroughly cooked, for your maximum protection.

Even if you gain some weight while pregnant, avoid any ideas of dieting. You need as much nutrition as possible and you cannot afford to cut carbs, fats, or calories too much. Don't use pregnancy as an excuse to gain whatever weight you want, but it's normal for you to gain weight while pregnant. After giving birth, there will be plenty of time for a stricter diet.
