Heart Association Diet

Heart Association Diet

The Heart Association Diet is based on the premise that you eat foods that will keep your heart healthy. In 2001, 696,947 deaths in America were attributed to heart disease. Stroke attributed to another 162,672 deaths. That is almost 900,000 dead because of heart related illness!

To make sure that your heart is as healthy as it can be, the Heart Association Diet recommends that you eat fruits, vegetables and low fat meats like boneless, skinless chicken breast and pork. Red meats, such as steak or hamburger should have extra fat trimmed or drained off.

The Heart Association Diet suggests that you limit or avoid smoking and alcohol consumption. Foods high in fat and sugar should also be limited or avoided. Excessive consumption of foods high in fat and sugar may lead to heart problems, obesity or other obesity related conditions.

The Heart Association Diet also suggests getting regular exercise to help make your heart muscle stronger. Exercise can help reduce stress, alleviate depression and defend against heart disease. Using all of these tactics will help to assure your longevity.
