Gastric Bypass Diet
Discussion of Dieting after Gastric Bypass
The gastric bypass diet is one that is followed after getting gastric bypass surgery. Gastric Bypass surgery is used as a last resort for people that are severely overweight and haven't been able to lose weight using more traditional methods like diet and exercise.
Gastric Bypass surgery is used to reduce the size of a persons stomach. By reducing the size of the patients stomach, it can not hold as much food and fills faster. In most cases, it is left with enough room to hold 4 - 6 ounces of food. As you can imagine, there is not a lot of room for someone to overeat. Immediately after a gastric bypass surgery a liquid diet might be followed for a period of time.
Exercise and diet helps anyone to reduce their weight. Gastric bybass involves a surgery that may have complications or cause infections. It is also likely that there will be downtime resulting from a hospital stay. Gastric bypass is a complicated procedure and may not be covered by your health insurance, so you may be required to pay for a part or all of this elective surgery.
