I started this Monday. I am down three pounds already! However I did not buy the book and am wondering if someone out there who has been on this or even the Atkins can give me some ideas of what else to eat for breakfast. I am getting tired already of scrambled eggs and turkey bacon!
I cannot see eating chicken or meat for breakfast unless in some recipe of some sort...
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Hello,
Lucky for you I have the book right here. Here are some breakfast examples:
Vegetable Juice Cocktail
Vegetable Quicke Cups
Day Two has:
2 slices Canadian Bacon
6 oz tomato juice
1/4 to 1/2 cup liquid egg substitute
Day 4 has:
6oz tomato juice
Eggs Florentine (1 poached egg served on 1/2 cup spinach sauteed in olive oil)
2 slices Canadian bacon
These are some of them!
How are you doing it without the book? I ask because I was planning on going to get the book this weekend. I was on Atkins and I pretty much didn't eat breakfast. Occasionally I would have an Atkins shake when I had time to make one, but thats about it.
Thanks for the recipes...
So how am I doing it without the book? In this month's Mens Health there is an article that details what you can and cannot eat etc for the first two weeks. I have also surfed the web for information.
I may not be doing it "by the book" per se but it is working....
Sal :) :)
So,
How is the diet going? Are you hungry all the time. Did you figure out what to eat for breakfast? I found out one thing from a nutritionist that I thought might be beneficial for you. You said that you would drink an Atkins shake for breakfast when you were doing Atkins and when the topic of drinks for meals came up she said something very interesting. She said that when you drink your meal you get hungrier faster because your body metabolizes the drink so much faster than if you ate real food. Just a thought.
It was hard at first, but I'm not thinking of carbs as much anymore and I try to write down whatever I had for the day so I can see what I've been eating and try not to eat out of comfort or boredom.
Remember your goal and it seems to make it just a little easier. That is what I will be doing over the next few days. I'm happy Thanksgiving only comes once a year! I am not going to go to dinner feeling hungry, and than overeat!
My husband and I are starting the SoBe diet this coming Saturday, January the 10th. I have a question about the meals. Do I have to fix each meal each day as the book lays them out for the first 2 weeks, or are they merely suggestions, and I can pick whichever breakfast, lunch, and dinner meals that I like from the book? :? My husband leaves for work at 5am every day because he has a 2 hour commute to Chicago. That means I would have to get up at 4am each morning to start fixing the breakfasts as they're listed in the book. 8O I hate to cook, and the idea of getting up at 4am to cook for the next two weeks is making me crazy!
according to the book, you should follow the diet and menu plan that is outlined. it says you can prepare these items prior to the meals themselves. it also states that this part of the diet is VERY Important to follow to see the results that they claim..
getting up at 4am to cook would be a bit burdensome, maybe preparing the dishes the night before and tucking them into your frig might be a good idea :)
Thanks Pixie! :D I'll try to do that. Since we're starting this diet on the weekend perhaps I'll have time to get several things made up ahead of time and refrigerated.
My husband is still wondering, though, how he's going to manage lunch when he has to drive for 40 minutes, ride the train for an hour, and then walk 8 blocks to the office! I guess I'll just have to figure something out. Any suggestions would be welcome though.
all of that just to get to work?
an hour in a traffic jam is bad enough..
ziploc food containers in an insulated lunch bag may be the route to go.
for example the lunch for day 1 is:
a grilled chicken breast on romaine lettuce with low sugar dressing
and a sugar free gelatin. (i'm pretty sure that jell-o may even make these and sell in the dairy area at your local grocer) as far as the dressing goes, they make funky little containers for that type of stuff too. Snacks listed are mozzarella cheese stick (easy) and celery. this all should be able to fit and keep with a freezer pack..
hope this helps..
Hi Pixie,
(You're so nice to help like this!) That meal should be fairly easy, it's some of the other lunches that are going to require some inventiveness on my part. I may also have to make a trip to Wally World and buy some containers for soup, etc.
Also, many of the meals call for shrimp, crab, etc., and my husband is deathly allergic to shellfish and can NOT have any. I'm going to have to make some substitutions, and repeat some of the other meals in the place of those.
Also, I've never heard of 'laughing cow' cheese. I've never seen it in this area, so need to find something to substitute for it. Any suggestions???
Laughing cow cheese is just a name brand. Try Kraft instead.
see i'm honestly addicted to carbs... and i cant stop eating them so i honestly dont know what to do, PLUS i'm like the pickiest eater in the world and i dont like a lot of veggies and stuff, i like celery and carrots and cucumbers not too much else, i mean i had made myself a personal diet plan but its really hard to stick by, i wouldnt mind eating steak or grilled chicken everyday but u gotta have bread or potatoes or noodles or soemthing to go with it! see what i mean, i need some major help i got issues with starches! lmao.... anyways, how did yall get started, i dont have a lot of money so i really cant go buy any books or anything and i'd really like to try some diet pills along with a diet but i cant afford those either... if anyone could help please lemme know!
Nicki, if you can give up carbs, try a different diet. Many other diets that also work allow carbs. How about Weight Watchers or calorie counting? Just remember what ever you do, weight loss is a process. Weight will not come off over night. Good Luck!
